Rendering and plastering
Render cracks and blows for two reasons. Either it was put on over something that was already moving, or water got behind it and had nowhere to go. So before anything goes on we check the background, sort the bell cast and the beads, and make sure the tops and sides are detailed so rain runs off rather than in.
Inside it is the same idea. Walls get dubbed out or boarded so the finish is flat, then skimmed and left ready for decorating. We sheet up, keep the dust down and take the waste with us.

Wall finished
Background made goodUsually four to seven days for a skim, longer in a cold room. It needs to go from dark brown to an even pale colour all over before a mist coat goes on.
Not always. Hairline cracks can be filled and coated. If it sounds hollow when you tap it, that section has let go and has to come off.
Silicone render is coloured through, flexible and self cleaning, so no painting. Sand and cement is cheaper up front but needs painting and is more prone to hairline cracking.
Yes. One room, a ceiling, or patching after a leak. It does not need to be a whole house.
Ring Stanley and tell him what the wall is doing. He will say whether it is a patch or a full re render before quoting.
